Bathing in Spirit Springs: Is it Rude?
In certain backwater provinces, locals have taken up the questionable habit of bathing in Spirit Springs. To many Hyruleans, Spirit Springs are a place tremendous spiritual significance. This has caused some to question the practice and the practitioners (who are usually derided as 'Spring-bathers').
“I think Spring-bathers are an offense to the Goddesses and to the Hero and our a whole way of life.” Priest John Worship opines. “The Sanctuary needs to send a mission into these communities to stop them from defiling that which is holy!” The attitudes of Worship are common amongst many urban Hyruleans who have access to running water and public baths.
But the Times sent reporters into the country to get the other side of the story. Upon arriving in Ordon, some little-known province far beyond anything that can rightly be called civilization, we encountered a woman who was bathing a horse… right in in the middle of the Ordon Spring. When redressed for her behavior, Ilia of Ordon told me, “Let me spell it out for you, citygirl! It’s not just humans or horses that bathe in this spring. There’s a pile of Ordon beetles swimming in the thing right now! Is that offending the Goddesses? I don’t think that it is!”
It seems that perhaps our criticism of these Spring-bathers comes from a place of privilege. That or they’re just too ignorant and stuck in their ways to see that Spring-bathing is offensive. The Spirit of Ordon was unavailable for comment, but we’re pretty sure that he doesn’t want to be consumed by horse BO.
